I began to think more deeply about what could the judges be looking for in a prospective candidate for a title like Miss Refined International. So, I decided to pick the title apart a little for this post.
International, I believe, is obvious. Of course this means from any nation. All nations are included. Therefore, the competition for the title is open to people, er uh, avatars, from all walks of life.
Miss, being a term for a woman, would indicate they are searching for a female.
Refined. This is where it begins to be more apparent. This is where we can become more granular with the particulars of what they are seeking.

adj1. not coarse or vulgar; genteel, elegant, or polite2. subtle; discriminating3. freed from impurities; purified
The above definition for refined is somewhat telling, I think, of what the judges would be looking for in a candidate. Someone who is not course or vulgar, but who is genteel, elegant, polite, subtle, discriminating, and freed from impurities, or purified.
Talk about a lot to live up to! While I believe that I am able to meet most of the qualifications for the definition, and in fact, am the very definition itself, how do you portray that through pictures and a few walks down a runway with some poses?
Perhaps that is part of why there are three challenges in addition to the initial phases of the contest. I believe the blog challenge is a good aspect of the contest because it requires us to show our refined natures through the written word. Yes, I believe that’s it. The written words in these blog posts are indeed telling and I think it was quite clever for someone to have thought of posting our thoughts as a challenge.
Coming to that conclusion, I am feeling more and more confident about the meaning behind the competition being more than just the beauty of an avatar. The panel is sincerely considering ways to reveal the truer nature of our inner selves.
So, while posting two posts per day initially seemed like it might be a little overwhelming, I definitely see the positive insights it can bring to help the panel of judges with clarification for their decision.
